KHS Cheerleaders to appear at The Alamo...Bowl
by Emma Beat
The Kingman cheerleaders were honored by being picked to cheer at the San Antonio Alamo Bowl. The girls, along with the Derby band, are the only two programs in the state of Kansas picked for this occasion. The girls were chosen because of their cheer camp scores in dancing and for winning the Superior National Cheerleading Association award for teamwork.
On December 26, 2008 they will load up on two white USD 331 vans and head to San Antonio, Texas. Within two weeks their music and choreography for this event will arrive and keep the girls busy preparing.
The squad’s itinerary consists of leaving Kingman on December 26, driving to Waco, Texas, and staying the night there. On the 27th they will finish the drive to San Antonio in the morning and have their first practice that afternoon. On the 28th they will have a morning practice, break for lunch, and then have an afternoon practice. The girls have that evening off and will be able to see the sights of good ole’ San Antone. The next day, the 29th, the girls will have a morning practice, and in the afternoon they will attend a final dress rehearsal before performing in front of the entire nation that evening.
The next day the cheerleaders will hit the road and head home following this opportunity of a lifetime.
