FCCLA Members Raise Funds to Attend Dallas Cluster Conference

by Emma Beat

FCCLA stands for Families, Careers, and Community Leaders of America; it is a national vocational student organization that is open to BOTH genders, contrary to popular belief that only girls can join.

FCCLA, with only five girls involved includes Colleen Messenger, Emily Meisenheimer, Faith Davis, Kirstin Robinson, and Deanna Renner, and is without a doubt, the smallest group in the school.

In the recent weeks the girls have been fundraising to help raise money for their $230 excursion to
Dallas, TX on November 21-23 for a leadership, or cluster, conference.  With four meetings held around the country in Dallas, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, and Providence, the Dallas conference was the closest by far.  Their first fundraising attempt, selling candles around school and at football games, raised $550.  More recently, they sold Halloween themed goodies during first and second lunches, which was fairly successful.
